The Psychology of Decisions

Audience:
Leaders, emerging leaders
Intact teams, interdependent teams
Duration:
1 hour
Delivery Method:
Facilitator-lead (in person) or virtual workshop (video conference)
Summary:
The Psychology of Decisions explores why we subconsciously make the decisions we do, what motivates those decisions, and how effective decisions are when made in a group.  Specifically, we look at how options create critical thinking, and how to avoid groupthink when working in teams.

This workshop begins with a live demonstration (with a volunteer) on how options create critical thinking.  We then move on to understanding groupthink, and ways to combat it that are practical and can easily be applied in any team/group.  Lastly, I ask the group to make a commitment to something they will do differently to ensure they are contributing in a critical way to the goals of the group.

In looking at groupthink, this should allow people to see what gets in the way of using their expertise and taking a risk, while offering real solutions to the way groups operate, offering implementable strategies to ensure more critical thinking and participation on the part of all group members.
